NOTE: There are no picks involved due to me getting mixed signals of his value, let's just assume this trade will work without picks for the time being.
The Timberwolves seem to be one piece away, and ever since Julius Randle has got there it seems that they have been ready for him to leave. The Wolves are also missing that playmaker all season that could give them that much needed bump. In this trade, they send off Julius Randle and Mike Conley Jr for Trae Young and give AE a second option and the ability for him to play off ball and have a little bit of weight off of his shoulders.
The Hawks, also seem to be a piece away and looked very promising this season while Trae was hurt. He has proved he is no longer the future of this team and the Hawks will move on with Julius Randle and Jalen Johnson. Randle has played with some rim protectors in the past in Mitch Robinson and Rudy Gobert, and Randle might be the guy Kristaps needs to be paired beside. Conley also comes in as a backup PG and has an expiring contract which means they will save tons of money with his and Kristaps contracts coming off the books this off season.
For this trade to work, the Timberwolves HAVE to trade Rob Dillingham away. I feel like Dillingham would fit a whole lot better in Brooklyn where he will obviously get more playing time and more chances to touch the ball on a young, rebuilding squad who only has pride to play for this season. The Timberwolves also bring in rookie PG Ben Saraf in hopes to replace both Conley and Dillingham's roles.
