Why They Do This *

Orlando

• Shooting, Shooting, Shooting. It's all the Magic need. Cam Johnson is the best available shooter amongst teams looking to tank, and Sexton is a reliable 37%+ from 3pt range.

Brooklyn

• They're winning a bit too much for a team looking to rack up lottery picks in the next few seasons. Cam Johnson is a big reason they're winning, so moving off of him and getting a few expiring/low risk contracts should be a priority.

• Getting a couple of (albeit) protected 1sts for someone who will be a 3rd-4th option is probably right around their asking price.

Utah

• They utterly stink, and don't seem to have a clear vision on where the future of this team lies. Lauri needs to be moved, but with his contract I think he's stuck there until the offseason. Sexton seems the most likely to garner widespread interest given his consistency and contract.

• Taking on a few project players that have a chance to develop into affordable role players as they rebuild could angle them towards a re-tooling instead of the nuclear option if they can draft well.

Los Angeles

• As they've stated in the media over the holidays, they want guys who can come in right now and contribute, while also being viable long term options. Enter Orlando. Orlando has managed to sign almost everyone on their roster to mid-length deals that are declining scale (getting cheaper in the last years of the contract).

• Isaac could serve as the perfect backup to AD, providing similar or maybe even better defensive value if he stays healthy.

• Anthony is on basically a 3 year mid-level exception sized contract. For a guy that on any given night can drop 30 off the bench, giving up expiring contracts/players that don't play much anyways and a protected '29 1st, this type of trade should be a no brainer.
