IND Upgrades 2 Starting Positions, NOP Commits to Point Zion in 4-Team Trade

The playoffs have shown that Indiana is a few roster changes away from being a consistent Finals threat: as sad as it is for the fans, restructuring the roster would mean sacrificing starters that helped them set up their 2025 Finals run. Naz Reid and Herb Jones should be two seamless fits for the team. Mathurin embraces heavier usage now as the team's best off-ball scoring threat, which he has already proven he's better at than Nesmith (despite him shooting 49% from three in the playoffs). Herb provides the ideal wing defender the Pacers could ask for: more disciplined, more switchable. At bursts, the Pacers could also task Herb as the secondary ball handler with just as legitimate of a passing threat as Nesmith.

The bigger upgrade necessary for the Pacers is to let go of Myles Turner. His floor has sunken so deep that this team has elected to play Tony Bradley in bursts, and a team wanting to fight for another chance at a championship simply cannot live with that. Naz clears Myles in all aspects of the game the Pacers need him to: rebounding, shooting, attacking closeouts, switching onto guards and wings. This should be a no-brainer for Indiana, and for Naz also, who shall see consistent minutes on this team than his current role under Gobert and Randle in Minnesota.

The Pelicans have stated multiple times they're committing to Zion, and they've finally proven it by letting go of Ingram and trading for Jordan Poole. Now: it's time to see what the maximum potential of a lineup truly built around Zion is. A starting lineup with Poole, Nesmith, Murphy, and Turner (not to mention, Hawkins off-the-bench) would unironically see the best scoring version of Williamson will ever be. The Pelicans already experienced a Top-5 offense even with Valanciunas, Ingram, and Jones getting most of the run, and upgrading from this off-ball spacing combo would mean too much for most teams to simply outscore; all this while building a solid defensive foundation, with everyone except Poole and Murray (can argue for Turner in his worst games) being the true defensive liabilities on the team. With deep playoff experience in Nesmith and Turner, this team can hope for huge confidence come deeper in the season.

As good as Minnesota already is with their current roster, they'd have to cut down costs. They cannot pay NAW, Naz, and give both of them their preferrable circumstances wit regards of their minutes all at once for this upcoming season. Indiana could arguably still outbid this 4-yr $100M I handaed him out, but the given price with a last-year PO could suffice the opportunity he would fulfill on a more competent team and a more established offensive system long-term.
