I love Marcus Smart. I think he is a great defender whose usefulness on offense far outweighs his shooting deficiencies. That being said I just don't think he has fit within the Celtics with how they are currently structured. Pistons would be able to secure a valuable player who can guide the young guys (or someone they can trade for even more picks to help with the rebuild).

The Pistons would also be getting Payton Pritchard and Aaron Nesmith, great shooters who just hasn't been able to carve out time in the Celtics rotation. Both also play with a ton of hustle and Nesmith has the physical tools to play good defense.

Juancho is just to make salaries work.

For the Celtics, they get Jermi Grant who gives them some much needed offensive firepower. Grant also would be able to play next to Horford or Robert Williams III. He gives the Celtics the opportunity to slide Tatum down to the 3 spot and still not lose much on the offensive side.

The Celtics would also be getting Killian Hayes, a young PG whose skills became redundant once Cade Cunningham was picked. This would give the Celtics a decent back up ball handler and allow Schroeder to slide into the starting line up as the PG.
