MVP: Nikola Jokic: I think that Jokic is my MVP, he carried the Nuggets to a 6 seed for a playoff spot, all without Jamal Murray or MPJ. No team could really “stop” Jokic, sure, he may have a statline that underachieves his usual statline once a while in a game, but it would still look really good. Some people may say Jokic’s team was not as good as Embiid’s or Giannis’s, then how did Westbrook win MVP? His team was a 6 seed as well back in 2017. We have never seen a gem like Nikola Jokic, his stats are probably even better than last year.
ROTY: Evan Mobley: Even though Evan Mobley is the favorite to win this award, it’s a lot closer than people think but some people are starting to realize that. I still have Mobley winning this award because he was consistent, he turned the Cavs upside down, and his averages were pretty solid. Mobley is the best defender in this class, in front of Scottie Barnes, his diversity and IQ to switch on to smaller guards and stronger big men is remarkable. His post game is also underrated, he has a little hook shot to shoot over almost everyone, his shooting needs a little more improvement though. I think that he can be an All NBA player in the near future.
DPOY: Giannis Antetokounmpo: Their isn’t much to say here really, Giannis has always been a consistent defender, he is diverse and lanky enough to guard anyone, you do not want to be guarding this man at all costs.
MIP: Darius Garland: There was a few candidates that you can make an argument for, but Darius Garland was a no brainer for me. Just last season people were saying he was a bust, because of his inconsistency. Now look at him, an all star, being on a winning team with all the rest of his teamates. This is just an incredible improvement from someone who didn’t have any expectations or hope.
SMOTY: Tyler Herro: No brainer, Tyler Herro didn’t really have much competition on this spot, maybe you can argue Kevin Love or someone else, but no. Tyler Herro is a 20ppg scorer of the bench, think about that. Not only that but they are the one seed in the east, this is just what I think because I really didn’t see anyone else winning this.
COTY: Monty Williams: Monty Williams has been a fantastic coach over the last 2 seasons, his way of teaching his young guys is so good. Although there is some close competition like Taylor Jenkins or J.B Bickerstaff, I think Monty has been the most consistent throughout the season, because after all it is a season award, not a weekly award or monthly award.
EOTY: I don’t pay attention to executives.
