Miami moves on from Kel’el Ware and trade into their timeline. Murphy, jones and Alverado are three players that seamlessly fit the Miami system and age demographic. Murphy provides another level of elite spacing and can take on the role of being the 2nd or 3rd scoring option whilst playing good defense.
Hawkins can provide depth and spacing to the roster. It’s clear Jordan Hawkins needs a change of scenery, he was a leading rookie from his class early on in his career but his role has dwindled in New Orleans due to poor development. He could thrive in the Miami system.
The pelicans trade for Ware, someone who fits New Orleans new current timeline better. Ware is someone who perfectly compliments Derik Queen. He is someone who can rebound and block shots at a high level, with the ability to space the floor, he is an athletic play finisher, an archetype that on paper should fit seamlessly into the Pelicans offence. He’s another running mate next to Fears as well being an efficient pick and roll scorer.
Rozier is in this deal to mainly fill salary, he could provide backup minutes for the remainder of the season and mentor fears before the season ends.
Importantly, the Pelicans manage to trade back into this years draft to continue their rebuild, gaining a pick swap. The second round pick make the deal look more appealing and can be used as currency in future trades, and will likely need to include some seconds in a trading Zion.
