WHY IT MAKES SENSE FOR BOTH TEAMS
MIAMI HEAT:
Markkanen is a 7 foot forward borderline all-star, that could significantly help this struggling Miami team.
He fits the timeline of Bam and Herro at age 27. For once, they aren't getting a player who is almost if not past his prime and pray that he will be the answer.
It adds size and scoring to a team that struggles at the offensive side of the ball, while not being a complete liability at the defensive side.
They also get Sexton, a high-energy scorer that would be their microwave scorer off the bench.
UTAH JAZZ:
Lauri's trade value now is low, but not at an all-time low. He had a down year this season, and that contract isn't looking too good considering his performance. Jazz will be paying hin 46-48 million a year for 4 years.
That's why you trade him now while he still has value, and getting Wigs, who is a good trade piece, and Rozier (salary dump) who is expiring solves that.
You also get Jovic, a young player with a promising upside and a first round pick that could be very valuable come 2030.
