The hawks are looking for a 3rd team to facilitate a Dejounte Murray deal as they do not want D’angelo Russell’s contract next season.

The heat have a few expiring guys that they might not want/be able to resign and should look to trade in order for them to keep ~$35 million in salary so they have the option to trade for a star down the line. Both lowry and Jovic are available for trade and the heat haven’t pursued murray according to reports. Lowry is set to be traded by next week reportedly.

The Hawks want expiring money, a good player an unprotected first and a pick swap according to reports. They receive that in this deal as the only salary they take to next season is Jovic’s $3m.

I included Hunter in the deal to make the salaries work but that might be wishful thinking as a heat fan. However if the hawks want to dump salary Martin is a much cheaper and expiring version of Hunter who is a bit overpaid albeit better than martin slightly.

I think the reasoning for the Lakers is pretty obvious so i won’t go over it and for the hawks they get their picks and cap relief so i think it makes sense for them.

The real point is that miami swoop in and get some unwanted contracts without giving up too many future assets. This gets them something for their expiring guys before they leave in the off-season, avoiding a strus/vincent scenario repeating itself.
