Why the Grizzlies do this: As great as Memphis has looked this year, it is clear that they need a ceiling raiser to help them beat the best of the West. Jimmy would help Memphis get over the hump with a fairly minimal cost to the Grizzlies depth/young talent pool. Marcus Smart has looked like a shell of his former self and Memphis has enough bigs/forwards to replace Clarke as well. I can see MEM being hesitant to give up a pick for Jimmy, but their this year is going to be late 20s and they have plenty of young talent in the pipeline to develop anyway.
Why the Raptors do this: Masai Ujiri has stated his desire in wanting to be a third team in the Jimmy saga to get back some assets. Getting back Clarke and Smart helps their depth and gives them more bodies to hopefully push for the playoffs next year.
Why the Heat do this: Getting back expiring contracts along with a first round pick is the most the Heat can ask for at this point. Besides, Bruce Brown is a Heat type player they may want to resign and Kennard can help their shooting woes off the bench this year.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I think Memphis is likely hesitant to acquire Jimmy given the mess he has made, but they can go for a title in this window without giving up too much value.
