Just for perspective I’d rather keep the 2nd pick and simply take Scoot. But if the Pelicans come with a very strong offer like this one, it would be hard to not at least consider the idea

Why Hornets do it: Hornets get a very good player in Brandon Ingram to form a strong front court with Miles Bridges(most likely coming back) and Mark Williams. Brandon Ingram gives this Hornets team more scoring power at an efficient rate. He can also be a primary ball handler when LaMelo Ball is not on the floor. Dyson Daniels has intriguing upside as a do-it-all type of guard. His defensive upside could really intrigue Steve Clifford. In addition, Charlotte gets 3 1st round picks which includes the 14th pick and 2 1st rounders in 2024. They also swap a 2026 2nd round pick for a likely very high 2024 2nd round pick.

Why Pelicans do it: New Orleans has been aggressively trying to trade up into the top 3 to land what they believe will be their franchise PG in Scoot Henderson. But they are going to need a gargantuan haul for Charlotte to even consider taking them up on an offer. But this package might be enough. Gordon Hayward is on an expiring contract and is still a productive contributor. James Bouknight would get a better shot with the Pelicans as they don’t have a ton of guard depth and can be a contributor early. New Orleans also swaps a 2024 2nd round pick for a 2026 2nd rounder to sweeten the deal. The Pelicans also keep their role players like Herbert Jones, Trey Murphy and Jose Alvarado.

Thoughts on this trade? I’d like to hear your opinions. I’m not afraid of constructive criticism. So you can say whatever you’d like
