I want to make it clear that, as a Cavs fan, I would hate this, as I don't think Cleveland should be trying to get Giannis.
In a hypothetical scenario where Cleveland considered trading Mobley for Giannis, but Bucks preferred to have a handful of first-round draft picks, would Charlotte fans consider breaking the bank to acquire Mobley?
Again, this is just a thought and I would be the first in line to oppose this trade, but is there at least a 1% chance that such a scenario could arise?
To give Cleveland's proposal some realism, their starting lineup would be as follows:
PG: Darius Garland
SG: Donovan Mitchell
SF: Jaylon Tyson
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo
C: Jalen Smith
6th Man: Ayo Dosunmu
CHARLOTTE:
PG: Kon Knueppel
SG: Brandon Miller
SF: Miles Bridges
PF: Evan Mobley
C: Ryan Kalkbrenner / Moussa Diabaté
6th Man: Collin Sexton
MILWAUKEE:
PG: LaMelo Ball
SG: Ryan Rollins
SF: Kyle Kuzma
PF: Bobby Portis Jr.
C: Jarrett Allen
6th Man: Myles Turner
The only credible aspect I can give to the proposal is the acquisition of a center who fits with Giannis, while Ayo Dosunmu can balance the backcourt in terms of average defensive level.
From Hornets' perspective, Mobley would be a perfect fit (and for many other franchises as well), I don't think I have much to say about how he would help (especially defensively) the team in general.
I have nothing more to add; with this post I simply want to encourage reflection and explore whether a team has ever thought, "Wait, if Cleveland did that, would there be any chance of getting Mobley?"
I would hate for that to happen, but anyway, what do you guys think?
