Alright well first of all I hope we all know that regardless of what my profile says I have been on here for more than a year. More than 2 in fact. But yeah this is 1 year ago today that I remembered fanspo existed and discovered the horrifying news that nixonbrett47 was gone forever. I mean not forever bc I have it back now (thank you Zach) but I thought it’d be lost history.
Alright so here’s some history behind my name because I know I tell everyone I didn’t choose my username the fact of the matter is it was because that’s my email and I did choose my email so here is a history lesson behind it. So in 3rd grade I was playing this typing/racing game in school. It was the first time I’d ever needed a username for something so I kind of just froze. My best friend at the time said “just use something simple like… dabom123” I liked the first half but ultimately decided to change the numbers to 234. That change isn’t too important but this next smaller change is. I got into this trend started by a YouTuber named Oats Jenkins where he “fixed” the alphabet and I thought that was cool so I tried it myself. That’s when I got into a kick of spelling everything in my new alphabet. Including my username. It transformed into dubom234, the same as it is today. The reason that is important is when I made a YouTube account for something I was going to try it gave me email options. One of them was “[email protected] and the only reason I kept it instead of using a custom email like I had in the past was bc it started with the same 3 letters as my username.
I did not know how to change these settings. Luckily people dont care if you change your pfp or display name so for a long while I had a Markkanen pfp with the display name Markkanen4MVP. One day I woke up and decided I didn’t like any of this. I thought long and hard on my rebrand and ultimately I decided to use a pfp of Terrell Owens at the star, and my best choose, my username. ShadowDash25. I was so proud of this decision but on my very next post bobross goes “Change your name and profile pic back to the og ones” I made a business decision to keep the pfp but hey, when you’re that small and one top 5 creator tells you what to do, you do it. I did two smart things imo tho. 1. I changed it slightly Dubta13 —> Dubta 2. I put ShadowDash25 as my display name. Shadow because it standed for SHATTO/SH AT TO/ Scoot Henderson Alonzo Trier Terrell Owens, 3 players I’d been publicly glazing, Dash because it stood for DubtaAkaScoot, which was also one of my previous names, and 25 not because of the year (which is what it means now) but as a tribute to surges old name (SeaUsRise25) when he was one of my favorite underground creator.
For me I split my fanspo time into eras (Newbie/Government Era) (Basement Era) (Rising Popularity Era) (JackHammer Era) (Waiting For JackHammer To Come Back Era) (MikeConley4spoy Era) (Waiting For MikeConley4spoy To Come Back/Controversy/ DaxWood Era) and (Waiting For JackHammer And DaxWood To Come Back Era) I hope you see the problem with this. 3 waiting for someone to comeback eras) I get it. Fanspo is a relvoving door but it seems like my best friends on this site are always leaving. Jackhammer, daxwood, Mikeconley4spoy came back but hasn’t been as active and has been more distant towards me it feels like, and dwhite4mvp as the heavy hitters. Yes i know dwhite4mvp is still here but hear me out… is he? 141 days? That seems like a DWhite thing. People are saying kpj or klaerpontis but it seems very dwhitish.
This brings me to my main point. I hit 160 followers a while ago. I’m now at 164 followers. I hit top gm score a while ago. I’m now at 89. My progress used to be immense and insane and now it’s pretty stagnant. On top of that I feel like fanspo itself has stagnated. Name one thing that’s going on right now…
Exactly! You tried, you thought, but you couldn’t think of something! Well, I don’t blame you because I don’t think there is. When I joined there was a constant and prevalent mock problem. Overnight though every single mock just disappeared. After totems lts mock no one made one again. It’s not just that though, it’s nothing. No series, no new trends that everyone are talking about, nothing. I think that once we get the iOS app or the gm simulator things will start to change but I’m not great at fanspo. I’m great at following a formula but there’s no formula right now.
I know y’all can’t see this and I’m not trying to throw a pity party or fish for compliments but I’m struggling at fanspo right now. I’ve seen people say they post to much and they got burnt out from posting and I realized that could never happen to me. I don’t post, how could I get burnt out? Well… I was half right. I’m starting to get on a roll right now with my last 6 or 7 posts all hitting trending. However that ironically burnt me out so while I had some more ideas for posts (which I’m combining all 3 in this post so it works) but I’ve sat on them to calm down. That did not help I’m still averaging around 10 comments when I wake up each day. How? I’m not doing anything. Except I am. I’m commenting. Yes. I got burnt out from commenting. Never thought I’d see the day but like others opening fanspo becomes a chore. Fanspo is not fun for me anymore. I don’t have the time for it. I got a dream to make the pros.
I’m sorry. I truly am but I need a break. Let’s make this clear I’M NOT RETIRING. I know I made this entire article sound like that but I’m not leaving. However, I’m taking a huuuuuge break. I might not reply to too many comments, I might not make many comments, and I’m definitely not posting that much. I’ll be back fully at a time I see fit. I will go on a freaking grind if y’all managed to bring jackhammer back.
Sorry this is a sad article but this is the way this has to be. I got basketball. I got school. I got family. I got friends. I touch grass once every year. I gotta work on my life outside the screen. Thank yall for 1 year of this amazing app. Seriously I mean it but I got things I gotta do.
