Should the Jazz try and sign Lillard while he's injured?

If the Jazz were able to sign Lillard to a 1-year deal, Lillard could be a great mentor for all of the young guards on the team, while he's rehabing from his injury. It doesn't seem like Lillard is likely to return until at least the earliest point being around April. So he wouldn't be taking any minutes from the young guys.

The Jazz can now create the most cap space out of any team in the league, if they want to by waiving the two non-guarenteed contracts on the roster. So really the Jazz would have the ability to offer a contract of a around $20mil, just for one season of rehabilitation for Lillard, which could be enticing for him.

Lillard also spent 4 years of college in Utah. So there is already that connection there for him.

From what I understand, Lillard's family has remained in Portland since being traded to the Bucks and he has a desire to spend time with them, during the rehab process. So being able to split his time in Portland and Utah would be convenient for him, as Utah is one of the closest teams to Portland.

Ultimately even if Lillard only spent 6 months part time with the team before being traded or waived so he could join a contender at the trade deadline, as he got closer to a return from injury. Those 6 months with the young team could be great for their development.

That's my pitch for signing Lillard. Thoughts?
