I believe this works if you take into account the Jazz’s trade exception.
Kessler is more established and a better rim deterrent than Ware. While both are good rebounders, Kessler is far more experienced at this point.
Ware is a better shot, and makes a respectable (for a center) percentage of his FTs, especially when compared to Kessler.
If the Jazz cannot make a deal on an extension, this allows them to bring in a cheaper and younger replacement who will likely still be a starting caliber center.
The Heat, meanwhile, get a high level starting caliber center who excels in shot blocking and rebounding right now. They also move off of a bad contract. This makes room for them bring in a marquee free agent should one become available. Even if they don’t want to keep him they could extend him so he could be substantial salary filler as part of a trade for that star player of the future so as not to have to give up so much of their young assets.
