All things considered(DeMar's age, contract, and fit and Caruso's unknown value and availability), I think this would be a solid move for both teams.

Sac clearly needs another star to keep the other teams defense honest. Yes, DeRozan is at the back end of his prime, but I haven't seen any signs of him falling off. Sac's pace may lower slightly, but they're only sitting 11th in pace right now, so it's not like they're consistently running teams out of the gym, and come playoff time, everyone knows the game slows down significantly, which is where DeRozan would thrive.

And I don't need to say much about Caruso. Sac has been looking for a starting SG that can guard the other teams best 1-3 and still be able to knock down the occasional 3. Caruso is that guy.

Chicago is the tough one to gauge right now. They don't really have any young studs to build around, so I elected for Sac to send out Barnes and Huerter instead of, say, Barnes, Duarte, and Mitchell. Yes, Barnes and Huerter are having a down beginning to the season. In Barnes' defense, Mike Brown has stated publicly that he doesn't call plays for him in favor of Fox, Sabonis, and Murray, so he just has to get in where he fits in. And for Huerter, he's clearly just in a frustrating slump, you can see it on his face every time he misses a 3. In a slower system, Barnes and Huerter may thrive and keep Chicago competitive until they figure out what direction they truly wanna go.
