So Sac and Portland are clearly on opposite paths. Brogdon is an excellent player and role model for the younger Portland guys, but I don't see him in any of their longterm plans being on the backend of his prime.
Huerter has been an excellent addition for Sac, but his defensive limitations showed in the playoffs when he was hunted by GS. Yes, Huerter fits Sac's timeline nicely, but that shouldn't be the most important thing for Sac. Brogdon would be an excellent fit at the SG. I'm not sure how good he is defensively, but their's a reason Boston was top 5 defensively last year, and he played a major role being the 6th man.
So Portland may want more value for Brogdon here, but Brogdon still has an injury history and again, he doesn't really fit what they're trying to do, so they should really consider the salary dump a large as a good way to go. And Huerter is no slouch. He's an elite 3 point shooter and he's only 25 with 3 years remaining on his very nice contract. Yes, he has defensive limitations, but he would most likely take on a bench role and will be exploited less, and it doesn't matter as much in a rebuilding situation.
