I wanted to drop this Monday sorry for the wait
Lemme give a few quick HMs to Karl Anthony Towns Bill Bradley and Henry Gallatin
10 Dick Barnett he was apart of both of the Knicks 70s championships and was an 8 year member of the team he was a very steady presence during his time with NY and was recently inducted into the pro basketball hall of fame
9 Richie Guerin he was a very accomplished player who had a short but dominant peak but was never someone who accomplished anything besides individual accolades while never making a finals appearance he still made 6 all NBA teams and was a lethal scorer for his time
8 Bernard King is he the king of NY well no but he’s one of the greatest scorers the team has ever seen and is a fan favorite and was one of only 2 Knicks players to win a scoring title
7 Carmelo Anthony the only other Knick to win a scoring title on the team Melo is another elite scorer who lacked team success but his individual accolades and legendary performances push him above the other two scorers and land him at number 7 on my list
6 Earl Monroe he joined the team after the 1970 championship and quickly became a great piece and borderline superstar for them while only making 2 all stars his impact to their 1973 title is arguably second only to Willis Reed considering he led their team in scoring in the close out game anyway you look at it Earl Monroe was a legend for NY
5 Dave DeBusschere another one of the key pieces of the Knicks 70s titles his impact as a defender and consistent scorer were all crucial components he ended up as a 5 time all star and 2 time champion in the big apple
4 Patrick Ewing now this is where my list gets controversial not having the all time leader in team all star appearances and scoring at the top of the list surely I must be a hater right well I’d say you’re wrong because I’m a huge fan of Ewing and his 11 all stars and over 23,000 points as a Knick are impressive he just lacks the championship the others have and was never the elite playoff performer they needed him to be Ewing is still a legend and you can make a strong argument for him to be anywhere in the top 4 even 1 and I wouldn’t say it’s impossible
3 Jalen Brunson the underdog story the unlikely hero of NY Jalen Brunson his time in NY has been memorable and his accomplishments have been just as much so he’s already 3rd all time in Knicks playoff points and has multiple all star and all NBA appearances and a clutch player of the year and now a championship and finals MVP plus what’s arguably the most iconic close out game performance ever and is truly one the best and most iconic players in franchise history
2 Walt Frazier the whimsical two way PG who was equally as important to the Knicks 70s championships as who I have number 1 he was a 7 time all star and 7 time all defense player from the PG spot he also has what was the most famous close out performance in Knicks history and arguably still does with his 36 19 and 7 performance in the close out of the 1970 finals Walt was truly a one of a kind legend for NY
1 Willis Reed the only player in Knicks history to win multiple finals MVPs and win a regular season MVP as well he also had 7 all star appearances and played through a torn thigh muscle in the close out of the 1970 finals showing true resolve and a true winners mentality Reed has some stiff competition for that number 1 spot but as for he will hold onto it
Lemme know you’re thoughts and what players got snubbed and who should’ve been placed higher or lower and most importantly who’s you’re Knicks Goat
