Jase Richardson - Full NBA Draft Scouting Report

Jase Richardson - Michigan State guard - 19 y/o

Stats: 12 p/g, 3, r/g, 2 a/g, 41% 3pt

Measurables: 6'1" - 178 lbs - 6'6" wingspan

Richardson had a unimpressive combine, but he is still one of the most intriguing prospects in this draft class. He’s an tremendous midrange shooter who loves stopping on a dime and falling away with tough shots over the outstretched arms of his defender. He also has a soft touch on floaters and hook shots, showcasing amazing body control. Most of his middies come when attacking closeouts and operating in the pick-and-roll. He's a below-the-rim finisher, but he uses immaculate footwork to finagle easy buckets in the paint and absorbs contact well. He runs the pick and roll well, using his playmaking, ballhandling, and overall craftiness to get easy looks for himself and his teammates. He's got a great feel for the game and was relied on heavily to execute and make the correct play. His defensive intensity is something that few guards in this class can match, as he fights through screens and competes on and off the ball nonstop. Richardson is not really a true point, as his playmaking and first step aren't quite there yet, along with his ballhandling. He also is not the isolation scorer that NBA scouts wish he was. He wasn't super efficient on his iso's this year. His biggest issue is his lack of size, which affects his defense and shot creating.
