Labaron Philon - Alabama guard - 19 y/o
Stats: 11 p/g, 3 r/g, 4 a/g, 32% 3pt
Measurables: 6'3" - 178 lbs - 6'6" wingspan
Philon is a talented combo guard who can is one of the most talented guards in the class. His mental toughness and the way he gets after it on both sides of the ball stands out to me a lot. He's quick and shifty, with the ability to carve up a defense with his intriguing ability to change direction and cut corners. His handle is solid and has an uncanny ability to keep the defender on his back. His court vision is good, with the talent to whip cross-court passes very efficiently. Philon's 3-ball has immense potential, but consistency has been an issue for him so far during his career. He shot 32% from deep this year at Bama, but that leaves a lot to be desired as he shot 41% for his senior year of high school. His on-ball defense is good now, but has potential to be elite if he puts on some pounds. To me, that is Philon's biggest issue: his weight. He got bullied in the NCAA tourney by bigger guards such as Sion James of Duke and Richie Saunders of BYU. Another one of his problems is that he is not the most explosive athlete, which could limit him in the NBA. Overall, Philon is a guy who can make an early impact for an NBA orginization.
