There has not been a single good Julius Randle trade on this app(including the 1-2 I’ve made in my own). Either Randle is being traded for nothing, or the other team is giving up way too much for a guy that does not fit their team.
Let’s understand what this kind of trade would have to entail for both teams to agree.
The Knicks needs:
possibility 1: an upgrade of talent w out giving up more depth(basically impossible)
possibility 2: trade for 2 QUALITY role players who would be 6-7 man to starter level on a championship team. Some ideal(but unrealistic guys) include Jabari smith, Naz Reid, or tari Eason. The Knicks should be getting 2 guys near that current talent caliber back(not taking into consideration what they project to be as the Knicks want to win now, obv that’s important tho to consider in a trade.
Now let’s look at some other teams that could actually want Randle. Before that, some teams that would NOT want Randle.
The Mavs, they already have 2 ball dominant players and need defense to surround them, not another ball dominant player.
The rockets, they have a bunch of young guys and clearly don’t want to blow it up unless it’s for a top15 guy in the league(Randle is not this argue w a wall psycho fans). Randle also does not fit alongside sengun(their best player) who is a ball dominant big that struggles w the 3 and defense.
The jazz, please stop. We r not getting Lauri for Randle and 2 protected firsts. This helps the jazz in no way. Even if it was a diff trade the jazz don’t want to win rn or at the very least don’t see Randle as a vessel for winning.
Now onto some teams that may want Randle out of desperation if nothing else.
Miami: at the end of the jimmy era if they want to get the most out of it moving some pieces for a guy that avg 25-10-5 and can carry they the regular season offensively and hope for a jimmy explosion in playoffs is interesting.
Lakers: they have a thing at making moves for stars that then proceed to not work out at all(look at melo and Russ and their constant efforts to get dejounte/trae and apparent interest in the past in Zach Lavigne). Randle doesn’t fit great by any means but lebron at the 3 Randle 4 ad 5 would be a hell of a front court that’s more physically imposing then any other team.
Memphis: not great but would be interesting to pair Randle next to jaren(so it would not be a trade for Jaren) as they compliment each others weaknesses. Would make spacing less then ideal but it’s not the worst idea and better spacing then Edey and Jaren.
Pistons: not because it makes sense in anyway. Just because they r a notoriously stupid franchise so I’d say they’d be willing to do anything(mostly a joke tho)
Spurs?: I don’t see it personally but ig pairing wemby and Randle as a front court should be deadly and it would allow a guy like vassel to be rly great off ball.
Honestly that’s it. I can’t see any other teams(maybe the clippers ig) that would see Randle as a guy that would fit their team. I also can’t think of any trade with the teams above that actually make sense for both teams. So someone please, using logic, try to make a trade that actually makes sense using the above knowledge or at least some wave length of knowledge that isnt
