Markkanen might be one of the best players to fit next to Mitchell Robinson, in theory. He has good footwork and skill, can spread the floor. Running him next to Mitchell would be a Garden dream come true.

Why the Bulls do it

Markkanen has been disgruntled with pieces being written about his unhappiness with the org. He doesn't seem to be in the plans they are implementing moving forward. They get two future first, maybe some light protections. (The one's that were selected were both Dallas picks. I'd make them both unprotected but hold at those two firsts.
