Massive 4 team trade: Knicks, Kings, Rockets and Grizzlies

FAILED

So I'll start off by saying I'm copping out a bit and not including picks in this when there will almost certainly be picks moving in this trade. But I don't see any FRPs moving in this and I tried to find a trade that would help each of these teams moving forward. Team by team below:

Kings: I'll start off with the Kings who are having a terrible season and are looking to make several of their players available for trade. They just signed Schroder to a 3 year contract and although he isn't playing badly by any stretch, they probably wanted more from him given the length of his contract and the relatively high salary for a 32 year old role player. Moving Schroder allows them to get off of the 3 year contract and that's also why I have Ellis going to the Knicks because it's partial compensation for taking on Schroders contract. Plus, Ellis is going to be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason (another weird move by the Kings FO was letting that happen) and has received far less playing time this year, so it's hard to see how they value him. They also lose Westbrook but he's on a minimum contract and is 37 years old so I don't see a future for him with the Kings either. In return, they get Mitch, perhaps the best offensive rebounder in the league and a great rim protector. Yes, he has an injury history but they're thin at big man (and may get thinner if they trade Sabonis) but he's on an expiring deal if they decide to let him walk (although I think they'd sign an extension with him) and Yabu who has underachieved compared to last season but is only making $5.5 million and although it's a player option next year, it's only one more season if he decides to stay. Finally, the Kings actually own their 2026 pick and this trade would make them even worse, raising their odds for a lottery pick in a deep draft.

Grizzlies: The Grizzlies team has been able to develop several players and would hope to do that with Dadiet. He's not much of an asset and the Grizzlies would probably need a SRP or two but Landale is also on an expiring and with Edey back (and JJJ and Aldama) the Grizzlies are pretty set at center. So they turn an expiring veteran in a prospect and some second round picks, not too bad!

Rockets: The Rockets are having a great season, but it's still one that was clouded by the loss of FVV. They've been playing well but it does seem like they need a PG to help organize the team when things get stuck. And after a strong start to the season, Okogie has looked more like the player most were expecting when he signed with the Rockets. The Rockets also have no flexibility with regards to salary because they're so close to the apron and can't exceed it. So what better than a reunion with Westbrook who had success (albeit with a ceiling) before on the Rockets and with Durant on the Thunder? Westbrook is always competitive and plays hard and is having a great year on a bad Kings team. He's averaging 14/7/7 on 37% 3 point shooting and the salary works! Both players are on minimums and the Rockets are deep on the wing so it's potentially a low risk high reward move.

Knicks: Finally to my Knicks. While Kolek has played better than expected, the Knicks, who have championship aspirations, may not want to risk their backup PG on Kolek. Schroder's contract may not be a good fit on a rebuilding team (where the Kings may soon be) but on a contender it could work better. He's a great backup PG and is consistent and plays solid defense. He'd be a great asset during the season and in the playoffs. Ellis would give them more depth at wing and is a great defender and solid 3 point shooter. He hasn't been posting great numbers but the Knicks will hope he regains his form and I think it's a good gamble to make. Okogie gives them another wing who will hopefully play like he did at the beginning of the season and even if he doesn't, he can soak up some backup minutes and makes the Knicks deeper. Finally, the Knicks replace Mitch with Landale who's have a good year with the Grizzlies and can score and rebound well. Losing Mitch will hurt as his offensive rebounds are a game changer, but between his injury history and the foul shooting troubles (Hack a Mitch showed again during the Raptors game and it's rough to watch), the Knicks may want to go with someone more consistent. The depth chart would give them a roster that makes them very deep and able to withstand absences of multiple players and be able to rotate more.

PG: Brunson, Schroder, Kolek

SG: Bridges, Deuce, Clarkson

SF: Hart, Okogie/Shamet

PF: Anunoby, Ellis, Diawara

C: KAT, Landale, Hukporti
