Knicks Land Karl-Anthony Towns

Knicks Receive:
  • Karl-Anthony Towns

The Knicks surely aren’t doing this deal to enhance their defense. They’re doing it to lean into offense. By adding Towns to a core already featuring Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson, the Knicks would be forming a Big 3. They should be able to win plenty of games on the basis of their firepower alone. Yet, there is something appealing, if counterintuitive, about pairing a defensive-minded coach with an offensive-minded roster. Thibs should be able to get the most out of this group on the defensive end, and the offense should effectively work itself out.

  • Sign Frank Ntilikina for 1 year / Minimum

Timberwolves Receive:
  • Josh Hart

  • Obi Toppin

  • Immanuel Quickley

  • Evan Fournier

  • Four First-Round Picks

Following this deal, the Wolves could pair Gobert and Jaden McDaniels in the frontcourt full-time. That’s a devastating defensive pair. Toppin can be a lead reserve who also makes positive contributions on that end of the floor. Meanwhile, the Wolves are banking on Quickley’s untapped potential here. He’s flashed star potential on the Knicks, and he’ll be their new second option behind Anthony Edwards.
