After a truly terrible mock trade by Bleacher Report that saw the Knicks not only giving up Randle AND picks, but also only getting Grant Williams and Nick Richards in return, there's been a lot of discussion over what a Randle trade should look like. The Knicks are definitely not desperate to trade Randle by any means and all of the reports have been clear that they'll only do so if the trade improves the team NOW.

Knicks: The Knicks get their starting and backup center in Deandre Ayton and Kevon Looney. Ayton is overpaid but it's more palatable given the rising salary cap and he probably won't command a salary like this in the future. But he is a solid two way player who can play solid defense as well as pass and score from outside 10 feet, something the Knicks will miss from Hartenstein. Looney is a solid veteran who plays hard and is on a great contract. They also get Jackson-Davis who has a great motor, is on a cheap contract and could help soak up some of the Randle minutes. A controversial part of this trade is that the Knicks don't give up any picks. But frankly, I haven't understood why all of the Randle trades where he's clearly the best player, and one on a good contract as well.

Warriors: The Warriors are also in an interesting position as this summers Olympics showed that Stephen Curry is still very much a star who can carry a team to a championship. Unfortunately, their roster is not a championship one and will honestly struggle to get out of the first round of the playoffs due to the depth and strength of the West. I'm honestly don't know if Randle would make them that team. However, he's a two time All Star and two time All-NBA player who, up until last year, has barely missed any time due to injury. They get a couple of young centers to help fill up the depth chart as well. Most importantly, while they give up a FRP, they don't give up Kuminga or Podziemski, who were the sticking points in trades for Markkanen. Like I said, I'm not sure if Randle is the missing piece, but the Warriors don't have to give up a ton for this gamble. Wiggins has struggled and is not earning his contract. Looney will be a blow but he also had a tough season last year. So basically they're losing two players who have been underperforming to add two young centers and a two time All-NBA player who's still in his prime.

Blazers: Oddly enough, this is the hardest case to make. However they have a glut of centers now and taking out Ayton leaves them more room to develop Clingan, their newest and most promising center. They get Mitchell Robinson, who's a beast on defense (although is underwhelming on offense) who's on a very cheap contract. They also get Wiggins, who while he's underperformed for the Warriors, won't be asked to play such a big role on this team and can focus on being a solid veteran presence and mentor for the younger players. It also gives them more room to trade Jerami Grant who could fetch a solid return. They do still get a FRP from the Warriors although I'm sure they'd want more.

Anyways, something like this would be the type of trade that the Knicks (I'm a Knicks fan so my trades will always skew their way even though I try to be fair) would actually do for Randle. Thoughts?
