I think every team wins, at least a bit

SUCCESS

This was tough to work out with salary matching but we did it.

Lakers: Get near perfect center to pair next to Luka. No, this is not paying too much. The Lakers were willing to pay more than this for Mark Williams, who is a much worse defender and at best equivalent rebounder to Mitch. and Mark has even more health issues than Mitch. Knect and a first isn't too bad imo, Kleber is salary filler on an expiring which Jazz would prefer over someone like Vanderbilt. (Gabe Vincent can be replacement here too)

Magic: They finally get a real scoring and facilitating guard. In under 28 mpg for the last 2 years he is avg 18+ points, 4+ assists and 48-40-86 splits. Thats some highly efficient numbers(and 2.3 turnovers which isn't great but is far from bad, and thats on a very bad team, number should get better playing with better teammates). Sexton is a bad defender, but hes tenacious and tries on that end, and Magic are one of the few teams that has the personnel to cover that up.

Jazz: Absolute pick whores. They get a protected washington first(essentially 2 mid 30s seconds, which are pretty valuable) as well as an unprotected Lakers first and 3 more seconds. This isn't enough for Walker and Sexton. But, McBride and Knect are both young assets that have already shown good promise and can be real parts of a real team(at least mcbride def can). Imo def worth it, but ainge prob says no cause hes a bitch.

Suns: Attempt a retool. The Suns are fucked draft pickwise unless they trade Devin Booker. Since they have shown no desire to do that, a better option is to get a guy they can try to compete with now and whose not a cancer to the lockeroom and is gonna leave next year. Kat fills a dire need in the center spot, and is hopefully a cornerstone they can start to build around with Book and him. Similar timeline, and with some good free agent decisions after getting off Beal's contract maybe they can build a decent team.

Knicks: Imo, the most interesting part of this trade. We don't get more depth here, we do save a bit of money and get a team that is theoritically dominant offensively and defensively. I don't like KD. He is still elite offensively and a good defender. Goga and Walker are 2 of the best rim protectors in the NBA(by of the best I mean top 12-15, not like top 5). They would effectively split time. This trade certainly improves the team for this year(assuming no major regression from KD, he is still better than Kat, just a much shorter timeline). However, the question is what happens in 2026 off season. Assuming a Mikal extension, keeping KD and Kessler would be extremely tough with the high salaries on this team, and I really don't know what you would do. In the end, it depends on how the season goes.

TLDR: Jazz get picks and young assets, Magic get efficient shot creating guard who doesn't completely ruin defensive ideology, Lakers get dream center for Luka, Suns get all star to pair with Book on his timeline, Knicks get KD and fantastic center rotation to compete for a ring next year and hopefully for years after.
