A crazy 5 team trade: Knicks - Magic - Timberwolves - Suns - Pelicans

SUCCESS

So this is a super crazy one and I'm completely copping out and not including draft picks because it's quite ridiculous. What I was trying to do is see if it was possible (and semi to not very realistic) to put together some Knicks trade rumors: a reunion with Donte and Jose Alvarado coming to the Knicks. Also, since the only way a Donte trade can conceivably happen is if Mitch is traded and then the Knicks would be in the market for a center.

Pelicans: The Pelicans probably say no, unless they're truly super excited about Mitch. But! There were reports that they wanted a more defensive minded center to pair with Queen and Mitch is that. He also has an expiring contract so there wouldn't be long term money if they decide to move on. Reports say they're open to trading Alvarado and Hawkins has been on the fringes for a while now. Peavy leaving may weirdly be the step too far as he has such a small salary and while he doesn't play much, he's young and under team control for several seasons. This trade is cleaner with Missi going out (Suns would not be included in the trade) but despite his declining minutes, it still seems odd to think that they'd move on from him so soon.

Suns: The Suns are open to moving Richards and would only require 1-2 SRPs if reports are to be believed. Dadiet lowers their salary, gets them below the tax line and at best is a longshot 3 and D wing developmental project.

Magic: The Magic (and me) thought that Tyus Jones would be a great fit as the backup PG. Unfortunately, it hasn't really panned out as he's not shooting well and Jase Richardson has taken his place in the lineup. They move on from Jones and get a smaller big in Yabu who I think would fit better on the Magic than he has on the Knicks. And Clarkson gives them a good 3 point shooter who they still need.

Timberwolves: The Wolves reportedly are willing to listen to offers for Donte, value the protected Washington FRP the Knicks have AND want a PG. Jones is not having a good season, but he's been consistent throughout his career as a facilitator and shooter. The Wolves have been looking for a PG for what seems like forever as Conley has aged and they'd hope that Jones would be it. They take a shot on Hawkins who has shown flashes of offensive production and has the tools to be a good 3 and D wing. Still, this probably isn't enough to get them to trade and perhaps there's something else out there if they move Dillingham.

Knicks: As I said above, this was to try and combine several different reports about the Knicks. The Nova Knicks fully form as Donte returns. The vibes would be immaculate and the Knicks would hope to get the 3 point shooting Donte showed on his lone season with them. Alvarado would be the backup PG the Knicks are looking for, he's a solid playmaker and good defender and would fit in easily. Richards replaces Mitch as the backup center and while he's nowhere near the player Mitch is, he's a decent rebounder and rim protector. The Knicks would still have a roster spot available to get another center if they wanted although they barely have any room and that player would have to be signed super late in the season. Finally, they get Peavy, mostly because he's the only salary that works but he could try to backup OG as an undersized PF. That's another area that the Knicks are light in as both the PF and C rotation are pretty light. Still the depth chart would be interesting!

PG: Brunson, Alvarado, Kolek

SG: Donte, Deuce

SF: Bridges, Hart, Shamet

PF: OG, Peavy, Diawara

C: KAT, Richards, Hukporti
