I feel like the knicks are 1 piece away from true contenders. Maybe that is giving time for their young guys to develop, or going fishing for a big guy rumoured on his way out. Kat fits the second option really well. He's a solid defender (definitely not elite) and a great shooter. He's never played with a really good ball distributor like Jalen Brunson, and he really needs to leave the Twolves. The knicks part ways with 1 promising young guy, their starting center and a benchwarmer getting 19m a yr. Really not a bad deal. And the pick won't affect them because they have 2 frp and another second in 2024.

Twolves do this because their double big lineup has not worked, and kat has rpoven he aint winning anytime soon in minnesotta. They deal him out to the knicks, get a really good backup for Gobert, get QG who would be a great full time starter next to a vet like Mike and build next to a superstar like ANT. Fournier will be a locker room guy for them
