Knicks/Wizards trade

SUCCESS

It seems evident now that a Knicks trade is on the cards although it doesn't seem like it'll be a blockbuster trade of any kind. Rather, as the training camp deals show, the Knicks want to sign both Brogdon and another vet (probably Shamet, but Mathews, Ryan and others are in the mix) and to do so, they'll need to reduce their payroll. This trade sees them send out not 1 but both of their recent draft picks in Dadiet and Kolek. I still think the most likely deal sees Kolek go out for either a second rock pick or cash, but Dadiet's name has been floated multiple times as well.

So I tried to get a bit more creative and this trade sees them go to the Wizards for Justin Champagnie. Champagnie is 4 years older than Dadiet but is more ready to contribute now and is similarly under team control for 3 years. Since the Knick's ambitions for this year are to contend for the title, having players that are ready to contribute now is what I'm looking for and this gets the Knicks that but also gets them a player who is still young and can develop further. The Wizards aren't looking to compete anytime soon and they can afford to let Dadiet develop and also get Kolek to boot. The Knicks would be getting a wing which is an area they're weak in and would still have room to sign Brogdon AND Shamet. I believe they'd still have their second round exemption to use to sign Diawara and depending on when they sign people (last season they let a few weeks go by so the minimum salary was slightly lower) they might even be able to sign another vet from the training camp group.

For the Wizards, they don't get any picks but they get 2 young players under several years of team control and Dadiet has shown flashes that could hint at some great development in the future.

Thoughts? Wizards fans, is this enough to move off of a good story in Champagnie who went from undrafted player to a full contract?
