If Giannis requests a trade to the Knicks ( Read Notes)

SUCCESS

I firmly believe that Giannis is leaving MIL. It's bound to happen. As far as packages are concerned, the teams that have the assets to put up the best packages straight up are

  • HOU ( Young core + Draft equity ) also applies for OKC

  • BKLYN ( Draft equity )

That being said...Giannis will have a say in where he goes. He's a free agent in 2027, so he'll have leverage to work with.

I think Houston is too small a market and is still relatively unproven. Solid foundation but lacking star power.

Brooklyn is a void. You're selling Giannis on potential. Nothing more than that. Don't know if he bites on it.

Miami doesn't have the assets. Point blank period. Neither do the LA teams.

OKC is a real possibility but Presti has never been one to make blockbuster trades. Plus the window for OKC is very long. If they win the title, I don't believe they'd break up the core for him. Plus them winning it all would probably dissuade Giannis from wanting to play there.

When Luka got traded, Giannis said he wants all European mega stars playing in big markets. He's got several business in NYC and ties to the area. I think he's a Knick. Believe the org will look to do right by him and send him where he wants to go.

A package for Giannis straight up would be tough since they surrendered 5 firsts for Bridges but there is a deal that may work.

Using KAT they could send him to MIL and route 3 firsts. Using OG they could send him to a team in need of a 3&D wing like ORL to add to the asset pool for the Bucks. ORL gets off some questionable contracts, gets a quality wing and positions itself better for next season.

The Bucks abide by Giannis' request. Get a solid return from a draft perspective. Towns is a legit star who is still young enough to be part of your future plans. If not, you let him put up monster numbers and then flip him down the line for even more draft picks.

The only reasons why I think MIL and ORL may say no is

  • MIL wants more younger players. Picks are not spread out enough

  • ORL doesn't want to help an eastern conference rival

Which in that case you could switch ORL with another team that would want OG and be willing to give up assets for him, route them to MIL and poach Giannis.
