I understand that Knicks fans may not be happy at first if fan favorite Deuce McBride is traded. But I think this "position need" trade is an upgrade for the Knicks.
New York needs a big man who will provide what Mitch did, defense and rim protection, because Mitch is always injured. Kessler fulfills all the criteria of such a player and I also think that he has better offensevly potential than him. Thibs is a center whisperer who developed many centers into key defensive figures (Noel, Mitch, Sims etc).
Another thing that NY needs is bench scoring, we are among the worst in the league if we look at points from the bench. Clarkson can be that 6th men / microwave scorer, we haven't had a player like that since Quickly. I love Deuce but he is not that type of player. He is a player with one of the best contracts in the league, but personally, he has a better fit with the starting five than what we need from the bench. (In addition to all this I am a big fan of Tyler Kolek π, his time is yet to come).
Deuce and Mitch are great additions for Jazz. Two young defensive players who fit into any team. I think Deuce-Keyonte George would be a perfect and compact backcourt for the future.
