A Giannis trade: modifying a 3 team trade by Sam Quinn (Knicks, Bucks, Spurs)

Things really hit the fan today for the Bucks as the Giannis trade sweepstakes seem to have begun AND Giannis himself went down hurt in a non-contact injury which is never good. If he's injured for any length of time, then this may all become moot, but I figured I'd try to get in on the fun and think up a Giannis trade. Sam Quinn had an interesting one but I can't imagine losing Hart in the trade so I took out Kuzma and made some small changes. Team by team below.

Bucks: Wow, what a day for Bucks fans, things really seem to be unraveling quickly. I'll address what's likely the biggest dealbreaker for the Bucks: getting KAT. They reportedly have no interest in KAT, but would they change their mind for a haul of picks? They also want to get off of Kuzma's contract but like I said above, I didn't want to lose Hart and this was the way to make that happen. The pick haul is really what's the return here, they're getting 3 FRPs and a few pick swaps (I'm not counting that Knicks protected 2-26 pick because it's likely going to be 2 second rounders). If Giannis is truly running the show and is making it known that he'd only pick the Knicks, this may force the Buck's hand and lower his trade value.

Spurs: The Spurs are giving up a lot here, no question. But they're also getting OG, who's one of the best 3 and D wings out there and is truly a game changer. The Spurs would be a nightmare on defense and a team that could stand against the Thunder who are dominating right now (and they only just got back Jalen Williams). This team would have Wembemyama, OG and Vassel to smother teams and would still have Castle, Harper, Barnes and Champagnie. Yabusuele could also still pay off and Dadiet is mostly here for salary reasons and isn't really an asset (but the Spurs have done a great job developing young players so who knows, maybe Dadiet becomes a good role player).

Knicks: This is a huge trade, it's emptying the Knicks draft chest (and if needed, I'd put every second rounder as well in there) and they're losing two starters in OG and KAT. Still, it's Giannis and they're also getting some nice pieces to round things out. Giannis himself would have gravity in a way that no player outside of Brunson currently has and is still a great defender. They're taking a chance with his age and injury history but this is a team that could stand up against teams like the Thunder. Johnson is a solid if unspectacular wing who would be a good second unit guy and Sochan is also a good backup PF and great defender. He's a solid passer although his shot never really came around. Olynk is mainly here for salary but the Knicks would be thin at center since Mitch's health is always a concern. Finally, I'd had a quick swap of McLaughlin to the Bucks so the Knicks could get Cole Anthony as a backup PG. The depth chart would look pretty great and the Knicks also gain a lot of size. They could also opt to start Deuce and move Bridges up to SF as well, but this team could be pretty scary.

PG: Brunson, Anthony/Kolek

SG: Bridges, Deuce, Clarkson

SF: Hart, Johnson, Shamet

PF: Giannis, Sochan, Diawara

C: Mitch, Olynk, Hukporti
