Pels need a Center, and the Knicks have a surplus of those types. Meanwhile, the Knicks want to refill their depth at the wing, and the Pels have a ton of that. You could aim for Trey Murphy III, but for contract matching, a swap of Mitch for Herb Jones would work out for both teams financially. Pelicans get their Center, and the Knicks get a great defensive wing with offensive upside, who is also on a team friendly contract. So in the end, Knicks will look like:
PG: Brunson, Payne, Kolek SG: Hart, McBride, Shamet SF: Bridges, Jones PF: Anunoby, Precious, Morris C: Towns, Sims
Let me know what you think! I think this could be an interesting scenario that bolsters defense around Jalen Brunson + Karl Anthony Towns. However, it does thin out the Center line-up. But if you put Precious at the 5 for certain line-ups, I think the Knicks will be good.
