Knicks off-season plan

SUCCESS

Fanspo logo

Knicks stay away from all the big trades and moves (JJJ, Giannis, etc), and instead develop the group we have. The bench will be better because the new coach will likely play the bench more than Thibs. Knicks sign realistic, cheap options to minimum deals to improve the team. The East is wide open next year, so the Knicks need to improve the roster if they want to make a Finals appearance. Also extend Mikal Bridges.

Sign Malcolm Brogdom to a 2 year minimum with a player option for the second year

Resign Landry Shamet to a minimum to see how he does under a new coach

Sign Jabari Walker to a low 3 year deal for talented young bench player

Sign Guerschon Yabusele to a minimum to see how he fits

Let Precious Achiuwa, Cam Payne, and Delon Wright walk

Malcolm Brogdon is a good replacement for Cam Payne, as they have similar styles but Brogdon is a little better in most areas. He would be good as long as he stays healthy. If he has a good year, he can opt out and resign for more money next year

Shamet had a great stint with the Knicks, but still has a lot to prove. Sign him for one year, see how he does, then decide if we want to keep him long term

Jabari Walker is a very talented young player who has a high ceiling. If the Blazers let him walk, we grab him on a low 3 year deal and hope he keeps developing

Guerschon Yabusele had a great comeback year with the 76ers, but they probably don't have the money to bring him back. Sign him to a minimum and see how he fits, also make sure last year wasn't a fluke. Great replacement for Achiuwa, who has said he probably wouldn't want to return.

Keep MarJon Beauchamp and Kevin McCullar on two way deals

Pick up Ariel Hukporti's option. He is a great young player making less than $2 mil. He fits great as the third center

Give Mikal Bridges a 3 year $87 mil extension. He has proved himself for us as a great two way player, and he has the chemistry with Brunson and Hart going back to college. After giving up so many picks for him, definitely extend him.

We have James Nnaji as a rookie, and he will try to prove himself during Summer League. In this year's draft, we take Sion James. He is a great fit as a young 3 & D player who will give the Knicks a shot to contend years later along with Nnaji, Hukporti, Pacome Dadiet, Jabari Walker, and Tyler Kolek. If we have to, sign him or Nnaji to a two way this year. IF Sion James falls to our #50, definitely take him.

Knicks lineup next year: PG: Brunson - McBride - Kolek SG: Bridges - Brogdon - Shamet SF: Hart - Walker - Dadiet PF: Anunoby - Yabusele - Nnaji C: Towns - Robinson - Hukporti Two way: Beauchamp, McCullar, Sion James
