The Knicks have very little assets to trade at present but they aren't entirely without options. Of the players they would consider trading (Mitch and Yabusuele), both have pros and cons to moving on from them. Mitch's salary is the easiest way to a difference maker, but would leave the Knicks short at the center position AND his offensive rebounding prowess is hard, if not impossible to replace. Yabusuele's trade value has gone down as he's struggled this year and I also think his versatility will be valuable as the season goes on. I also think he's going to improve as he gets used to the new system that Mike Brown runs and as he recovers from just a ton of playing time wear and tear from representing France (and being a focal point) of their multiple FIBA runs plus a lot of run during last season with the 76ers. So that leaves just 2 players who could fetch any sort of return: Dadiet and Kolek. Neither has much, if any, trade value so then you're looking at teams who both have the time and the goal of developing prospects (and not looking to win/contend) and who have players with similar contract values who can fit with what the Knicks need. Which lands us on Cole Anthony & Justin Champagnie.
Wizards: Champagnie was a nice success story last year but this season has shown that the Wizards are prioritizing other players over giving him any significant playing time. His numbers are down and while Kolek is definitely not even at that level, he's shown flashes of solid play and the Wizards don't have a ton of options at PG. Dadiet could also be an option here if the Wizards prefer him over Kolek. The Knicks would probably need to sweeten the deal with some 2nd round picks as well or give the Wizards their protected FRP back (which will only be worth a couple of seconds anyways).
Bucks: Wow, the Bucks season has really gone sideways. Despite trying a hail mary of Myles Turner (who's been good), this team is still basically all Giannis. Rollins has been a great success story but the team wasn't winning many games with Giannis and even less so without him. So it might be time to get as many assets as possible to either try and make one last swing or to prepare for life without Giannis. A few second rounders and a chance to try out Dadiet is about all they could ask hope for for a trade like this.
Knicks: The Knicks 2nd unit has been miles better than last year but has struggled without a table setting PG and Cole Anthony gives them that player. He's also been a microwave scorer in the past (including lighting up the for 24 points last year) and his dad has ties to the Knicks from his playing days so it could be a nice story as well. He's not going to suddenly be a big difference maker but as Kolek isn't getting much play and Anthony is averaging 8 pts and 5 assists in limited minutes, he's a definite upgrade. As for Champagnie, the Knicks hope that he regains his shooting touch and at the very least he's better than Dadiet and could help give them another wing, especially while OG is out. Plus, he's been a good defender in the past and could help on that side of the ball. The Knicks also reduce their salary slightly (almost 400k) and would be able to get someone on the buyout market for the 15th roster spot sooner on a pro-rated contract (right now I think they can only sign someone a couple of weeks before the end of the regular season). Finally, a quick note that this trade can't happen until December 15th due to the recently signed restriction of Cole Anthony.
