Not too sure how realistic this scenario is, but this trade idea gives both the Knicks + Warriors some flexibility. For the Knicks, you get back Looney + Moody, who have both fallen out of the rotation this last year for Golden State. They’ll get some playing opportunity on the Knicks, and Looney gives Thibs another rebounding big who happens to stay healthy pretty often. Moody would be a younger piece that the Knicks could turn into a trade piece, but gives the Knicks some shooting and some raw defensive talent that could be developed into a possible DiVincenzo replacement next to Deuce.
For Golden State, they get Robinson, who is eventually going to be an expiring contract and helps give them financial flexibility for their future rosters. And then when healthy, Mitch alone will help lift the Warriors defense up in the post and give them a different look for their bigs. And then to take on Mitch’s salary, the Warriors would get back their own second round pick, and the protected Wizards 1st round pick that will most likely turn into a ton of future second rounders for the Warriors to use for future drops.
So in total, here’s what the Knicks would look like:
PG: Brunson, Payne, Kolek SG: Hart, Deuce, Moody SF: Bridges, Morris, Dadiet, Shamet PF: Anunoby, Achuiwa C: Towns, Looney, Sims
And here’s what Golden State would look like:
PG: Curry, Podziemski SG: Hield, Melton, Payton II SF: Wiggins, Anderson PF: Kuminga, Knox C: Green, Jackson-Davis, Robinson
Let me know what you think! I know it’s not perfect, but could be an interesting scenario for both parties.
