Portland Trail Blazers x Los Angeles Lakers | Trade Explanation
The Blazers could use these assets to retool around Lillard (again) this summer. At the same time, they could also just decide to rebuild. The Blazers owe their pick to the Chicago Bulls with lottery protection this year. They could move Lillard following this deal and make sure that pick doesn’t convey. Between this deal and whatever they receive in that one, the Blazers could be rich with draft capital heading into a rebuilding process.
Some Lakers fans would have them move Russell Westbrook in a bid to land an impact player. Fair. His fit alongside James has long been questioned. At the same time, it’s looking better recently. It may be a smarter choice to hang onto Westbrook and make a move for a younger player on a cheaper deal. Simons would be perfect as a star-caliber shot-creating guard who spaces the floor.
Portland Trail Blazers x New York Knicks | Trade Explanation
If Portland wants to make a win-now move before the trade deadline, it will probably have to part with at least one long-term piece. Shaedon Sharpe is an option there, but he's shown flashes of star upside, which makes trading him during his rookie contract seem like an awful idea. Little is probably right in that sweet spot where he's good enough to entice another organization but moving him shouldn't be devastating to the Blazers.
