++Why They Do This++

Orlando

  • Accelerate the rebuild by betting big on John Collins.

  • J. Isaac has huge upside but just as many question marks surrounding him. Moving him to a team where he won't need to be the focal point of the offense should help him get into all-star form sooner.

  • F. Wagner has shocked almost everyone with his quick development, and has made Isaac more expendable. Wagner may be a safer option to bet on for their future.

  • Swapping G. Harris for D. Green is more for veteran leadership on an affordable contract than anything. With Orlando having so many young guards having both D. Green and T. Ross on the roster to mentor those young guys will be huge.

Philly

  • G. Harris has been playing extremely well once he finally got consistant minutes in Orlando. Philly desperately needs defense and floor spacing. G. Harris provides that, AND will clear cap space in the offseason if it doesn't work.

  • J. Isaac could be the piece Philly needs to make the jump IF he can come back healthy. Isaac's defense is his biggest draw as he's athletic enough to guard 1-5 at an elite level. His contract is also extremely friendly.

  • Add another floor spacer from Atlanta to make their bench unit even more competitive than it already is.

Atlanta

  • Admittedly this is the hardest sell in the deal. Atlanta is not nearly as close to being a consistent playoff team as most of us thought. Trae Young is proving he'll be an all-star for the foreseeable future, and Capela is holding down the fort in the paint. Adding Ben Simmons into the starting rotation gives them a top 3 defender, great ball handler, and a slashing threat that they currently don't have. This should add to the spacing Trae gets on the perimeter and sure up their defense and ball movement.
