Why They Do This

Orlando

• I'm having a lot of fun blowing up this team. This massive trade sheds nearly every long term contract aside from Isaac and Fultz.

• LaVine has been rumored to move for ages, this gives him a change of scenery and fills the void of Gordon and Fournier (since he shoots better than Gordon and is more athletic than Fournier).

• What's not to love about gaining 1st round picks when you also shed 40 mil off your salary after the season?

Chicago

• Start to build around younger core, while adding strength to their weak positions.

• Vucevic is an all-star, and will help immediately.

• Gordon is on a declining contract (only 16 million next season). He will be highly productive at a bargain rate compared to LaVine and upcoming free agents.

OKC

• Fournier has an expiring contract. It'll prevent them from signing anyone this season, but may help them to another surprise playoff push.

• They trade away two of their less valuable picks to make the trade work.

• They'll still have a ridiculous amount of cash available at the end of the season.

Golden State

• The Oubre experiment failed miserably. Adding Ross will give them the shooting they need to compliment Curry. Ross remains one of the best catch and shoot perimeter threats in the league.

• Aminu is weeks away from being healthy, this will give them a decent 3-D player on an affordable contract.

• Trading Looney frees up their depth chart at C/PF to give Wiseman more minutes as the season progresses.
