Bulls: The Bulls need their center of the future, and here they get Derrick Lively. Lively and Buzelis would be an excellent defensive pairing, fortifying the paint for the foreseeable future. As good as White has been for the Bulls, Lively would be a more valuable piece for the future. As a throw in, Caleb Martin would probably start for Chicago and potentially have trade value at the deadline.
Mavs: As good as Lively has been to start his career, it might be the time to investigate his value around the league. Without Luka, Lively simply doesn't have the same offensive juice. With AD in town, his defensive role is severely diminished. In the context of this team, Gafford is probably the better option at the five long term. The post-Luka Mavs are in desperate need of offensive creation, particularly with Kyrie out for an extended period. Coby White would be a really nice fit, both next to and in place of Irving. His off the bounce game has become lethal, and his shooting would open up some space for AD to score inside. Ayo would provide some more ball-handling and playmaking while playing sturdy defense off the bench. Jalen Smith is serviceable as a third big, especially given the three point shooting he would bring.
