Dallas will be 24 mil away from the tax next off-season before re-signing lively and they’d have 1 other roster spot open. Green for Martin takes that to about 34 million which means they may be able to re-sign lively, use the mle and sign a minimum guy while staying under the tax.
Minnesota would do this because the 4 million in savings this season allows them to avoid the 2nd apron after signing kuminga to the bi annual exception and adding a 15th guy on the vet minimum. Also they would have hopes that Martin can improve on what he was last season, returning to something closer to what he was in Miami and next season they can shop him as an expiring contract if he doesn’t fill a need for Minnesota.
