These are actually three separate two team deals:
Hawks: Hawks do this because they are desperate to get off of Trae Young and there are no takers. Plus they are pushing all their chips into the middle and they save their crown jewel asset that NOP pick. Imagine Peterson or Dybantsa with Johnson and a healthy Kyrie. Put Davis in the middle and wow (if healthy).
Detroit: Detroit needs three point shooting and even though Klay is shooting the worst of his career he's starting to heat up and he'll get much better looks in Detroit. Marshall can be a badass on the Pistons second unit.
Chicago: Bulls have long coveted Kuminga and maybe they can unlock his limitless potential. Chicago gets Kumninga at the cost of Jones really. That Portland pick may never convey as a first rounder. Certainly not this year unless Phoenix craters.
GSW: they are looking for a center that can roll and finish and play decent rim protection. Gafford provides all that, he just has to get his health back. Plus GSW can do all that without sacrificing a pick, just someone they don't want anyway.
Dallas: I know this isn't the hella return people would want for the Mavs but look at it from this perspectuve. You turn the page on the Nico nonsense, you now have assets for your future around Flagg and you likely slide to a Top 5 pick (maybe better if lottery luck). Here's also the hidden gem in this trade. Massive amounts of cap space, as much a 90 million with a couple other moves. Plus, the way it sets up you have more Cap Space in 27-28 when Trae expires. Also, Trae might not opt-in if he gets a decent offer and realizes the Mavericks will probably not play him and tank his value. In that situation the Mavs would have hella cap space. Some guys that are free than intrigue me (and may not be able to be re-signed) are Tari Eason and Jaden Ivey. Imagine this as a young core for Dallas next year:
Flagg Flemings (Dalals Draft Pick at 5) Lively (healthy) Eason Ivey Yessoufou (Atlanta Draft Pick) Nembhard
I may be unrealistic here but its possible isn't it?
