I've seen this trade purposed in a few different ways but basically it boils down to the Mavericks getting Myles Turner for Dwight Powell, another player of insignificant value to make salaries work, and a draft pick or 2. Clearly this trade favors Dallas and the justification I've heard is that the Pacers are not in a win now situation and will need to resign LeVert, Warren, and Turner over the next 2 years and wont be able to afford all of them. This way they can get assets back for Turner and Dwight Powell would be an upgrade off the bench as the backup center over Goga Bitadze. What do people think?
Presumably the Mavs starting lineup would be: PG Doncic, SG Hardaway Jr., SF Finney-Smith, PF Porzingis, C Turner 2nd Unit: PG Brunson, SG Ntilikina, SF Brown, PF Bullock, C Kleber
Pacers starting lineup would be: PG Brogdon, SG LeVert, SF Warren, PF Craig, C Sabonis 2nd Unit: PG McConnell, SG Lamb, SF Holiday, Brissett, C Powell
