Mavs have dropped out of the playin and are in contention of getting a top10 draft pick.
Kyrie is hurt and Luka is in hell as of now. Mavs should realise their roster inabilities and throw the white flag and tank to get as best draft pick as possible.
Fire Kidd and get Ime Udoka as the HC. Ime would be a HC that would definitely get the best out of the team on both end of the floor.
Resign Kyrie. Whatever kyrie has been playing lately, he’s been playing through a injury. We are now clear that we’ve 2guys we should build around.
Trade for Turner + Buddy Heild with the DB+ThJ + 2FRP package. Turner as the starting C would be the 3rd guy in a championship team as the defensive anchor and rebounding big & Buddy is just an upgrade over THJ as he can do more than chucking up 3s off the bench that can provide 15+ ppg.
Mavs have a very bad roster construction of one dimensional guys who’re good off the bench role players but not as a starters and move guys like Reggie-Maxi-DP in the bench role.
With the pick they get in top10 they should target a big Wing/Forward that has high motor and defensive ability. Walker, Ausar, Hendricks & Dick are some guys I think that mavs could get in that 5-9 range that can just plug in provide great defense and hit open 3s. Dick is the best shooter in the draft but I would rather have Hendricks/Walker because they’re top 3 DEFENSIVE forwards/Wings in this draft over Ausar because of his inconsistency but if he’s available get him.
Sign a defensive 4, I can’t think of any one other than Jalen McDaniels. He’s a great defensive wing that can provide great defense but at the same time hit 3pt open baskets. He could be great as a starting opening the season but as the rookies develop and adapt to the NBA they should be instilled in that 4 role.
Hardy sophomore season upside is what I’m excited about. He’s a top5 scorer from his draft class imo and could have that 6th man role for himself next season. He’s a great 3pt shooter just have to be effective in drives and decision making.
AJ Lawson upside, give him more opportunities next season.
Sign Pat Bev, he’s one of the great competitive bet in the league. This team lack that. All the mavs players are too nice and soft. Pat bev will bring that fierce energy to this team
With these things I think mavs could give themselves shot to be a top3 team in the west.
They could have a lineup of:
Luka-Kyrie-Green-McDaniels-Turner Hardy-Heild-Reggie-Rookie-Maxi Pat Bev- Aj Lawson -Theo-Dp-McGee
I think this is a good deep rotation
