Here Dallas makes a three way trade for a big wing and signs two reserve wings as well to bolster that position.

Grant Williams is the odd man out in Boston after the KP trade. Boston won’t want to go over the second apron for him since he would be losing most of his minutes anyways. So instead they help facilitate him to Dallas in a sign and trade, enabling them to acquire a decently sized TPE as well as a future second as well as opposed to him leaving for nothing.

In order to clear up the space for this and keep the MLE, the Mavericks would need to move some money. So here they give up Tim Hardaway Jr to the Magic for almost nothing (the second could even be replaced with cash). The Magic have plenty of cap space to just absorb his contract, and they’d be getting a high character vet who can bring something they desperately need which is more shooting.

After gaining Williams, the Mavs would then use their MLE to sign Jalen McDaniels. He would be a big wing who can play the 3 or the 4, helping bolder Dallas’s rotation there. Additionally they would pick up Yuta Watanabe to also fill out that roll off the bench. Finally we would resign Dwight Powell and Theo Pinson as depth off the bench.
