Mavs: Mikal Bridges
Knicks: PJ Washington, Naji Marshall
This is a very simple move with 3 people moving spots, and no picks attached. I feel like this is close to being a win win, but I'm not 100% either side fully comes out ahead with this move as is.
The Mavs ideology here is pretty simple, but again maybe not quite there. PJ Washington is going to be making $20 million to more than likely come off the bench, since looking at PJ's and Coop's on court numbers, and they look pretty bad together this year. As much we all love PJ, he's sadly movable. In terms of Naji, same kind of philosophy. Him and Coop have very similar playstyles, and when you throw Kyrie into that mix, there really won't be enough dribbles to feed all three of those pretty ball dominant players. In terms of flipping them, the Mavs desperately need 3 point shooting, and a POA defender. Mikal is elite at both, but I'm not sure he's elite enough to make up losing both Naji and PJ.
For the Knicks, I kind of like this trade more, but when you break down Mikal's "value"...this is a pretty bad trade. The Knicks have a desperate need to shed money to get some sort of decent bench. In this move, you get two incredible role players, and still shed a few million dollars to maybe get another lower end bench guy to add to the rotation, or help to resign Robinson. Same philosophy for the Mavs, though, is PJ and Naji enough to replace what Mikal gives you night in and night out?
I feel like this trade is close, but not quite there for either side, let me know what tweaks you would make!
