This trade is reliant on a lot of hypotheticals, the first being whether or not Nico Harrison decides another big trade is needed in the offseason. However, if he does, Kawhi is a great fit and potentially available. With PG3 and The Beard both free agents in the offseason, Kawhi and the Clippers may decide their short-term goals don’t align anymore. In which case, the Mavs should be primed to make a move.

Kawhi Leonard Bones Hyland

The Mavs form their big 3, with Kawhi’s defensive acumen compensating for the subpar performance on that end from Luka and Kai as well as supplementing their offense as a spot up shooter and third scorer. Bizzy Bones adds guard depth, albeit a rawer prospect than Green. A ball dominant scoring guard, if he can improve his court vision and passing he fits nicely as a low minutes back up to Luka or Kai alongside Dante Exum.

The Clips begin a rebuild by collecting draft assets and a serviceable young 3&D guard in Green. THJ can be flipped for more draft capital, while Maxi Kleber offers shooting and positive veteran presence, as well as being potential salary filler in trades later down the line. The 2025 FRP would likely be late in the round but the 2027 FRP may land higher should Kai not resign with the Mavs for any reason in 2026.

I think this may still be a little cheap so its possible that Bones may be removed from the equation, or pick swaps added, to balance things out.
