Derrick White.

But how did we get here?

Derrick Richard White was born on July 2nd,1994 in Parker,CO.

In high school,he was good,but he was barely recruited by college scouts and he was just over 6 feet tall.Only one head coach showed interest and that was Jeff Culver,at the Denver campus Johnson and Wales University,a non-scholarship college.Just before Derrick was just about to make his college decision,Jeff was hired as the head coach for D3 school”Colorado Springs” and he offered DWhite a room-and-board stipend for his first college year.

Culver thought DWhite would become a starter late in his college career.But he was very wrong.White started in every game he played and when he left the college after 3 years There,he would be the all-time leader for his school’s amount of points and assists.

He then transferred to the D1 School Colorado Buffaloes.In DWhite’s one season there,he averaged 18,4 and 4. He was first team All-Pac-12 and a member of the five-man All Defensive team. He was one of the 60 draft prospects invited to the NBA Draft Combine.

The Spurs liked what they saw and drafted him as the 29th pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

On October 31,2017,Derrick White and Davis Bertans were sent down to the NBA G League. In the G League,he fractured his wrist.Around March,he was recalled to the SA Spurs.And after that,he didn't see much more playing time in his rookie year.

In his sophomore campaign,he had a left plantar fascia tear. He didn't make his season debut until early November.4 days before Christmas 2020,DWhite had gotten a four year,73 million dollar extension.

On February 10,2022,White was traded to the Celtics for Josh Richardson,Blake Wesley and 2 First round picks.Derrick White would become a part of the Celtics’ 2022 NBA Finals Run where they lost four games to two to the Golden State Warriors.

When Marcus Smart was injured,Derrick White became the starting point guard,and he was so good,he won Eastern Conference Player Of The Week.

That year,Derrick White started in 70 games and played in all 82 games.

He was announced to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team the same year.

Derrick White would have an even BIGGER role the year after since Marcus Smart was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in the offseason.They’re starting 5 was LOADED with JT,JB,Jrue,Porzingis and DWhite.And it would all work out,as the Boston Celtics won a championship.

On July 1,2024,DWhite signed a four-year contract extension worth 125.9 million dollars.

In 2024,DWhite got chosen to play in the Olympics with NBA Teammates Jrue Holiday and Jayson Tatum,and also playing with legends like Lebron,Curry and KD.They went on to win the gold medal.

In the 2025-26 NBA Season,DWhite got All-NBA Defensive 1st Team and won the NBA Sportsmanship Award.

DWhite is also a family man when he married Hannah Schneider in August 2022.They have 2 kids named Hendrix James and Daxton.
