The worst contracts in the league currently or in the past article 2.0

  1. Ian Mahinmi

When in 2016 he was given a 4 year $64M contract but couldn't even live up to that contract being an injury prone center playing for a mid playoff team at that time. Couldn't contribute throughout his tenure with the team being paid $16M a year. Another reason why the Wizards overpay players thinking they are good but put up empty stats with bad efficiency or average under 10 PPG being paid between $10M - $20M a year for no apparent reason. Which his 5.2 PPG career average should have been a red flag to start. But, Wizards now are starting a rebuild with 2 solid stars that have been disrespected in AD and Trae Young but can produce when available.

  1. Shawn Kemp

One of the best dominant PF's in his prime but after signing a large 7 year $107M deal with the cavs in 1997 after that he was past his prime and was aging after his days with Gary Payton. He could not produce at a high level, instead of losing weight at that point of his career he was gaining more weight like Oliver Miller at 375 pounds R.I.P. Shawn Kemp then was ruining his career off the court as well. He was though still good averaging 18.5 PPG in his tenure with 20.5 PPG in his peak. But even though you might think this would make the Cavs contenders. But his contract was huge and like I said earlier past his prime. And after the Cavs was why he was a major disaster which was why he wasn't good. Then averaged under 7 PPG ever since due to drug addiction I believe.

  1. Terrance Mann

Terrance Mann after his clutch 2021 WCSF performance after that was a roller coaster of a career averaging under 8 PPG this season. Couldn't do much with the Clippers and Hawks afterwards. Was known for being apart of the Hawks bricking shots along with former teamates Caris Levert, Dominick Barlow and Georges Niang involved in that shit play. Norman Powell was doing things better than Mann ever did in a Clippers uniform. Now guess who was a new all star this season. I am afraid his career might be done after his contract expires I would bet.

  1. MPJ

When MPJ was extended 5 years $179M he was a big playoff choker averaging under 10 PPG averages in clutch moments being a one-dimensional scorer that puts up bricks whenever. Like Westbrook most of the time. MPJ just kept shitting the bed on clutch moments. If Bruce Brown and Cam Johnson were on the team before MPJ got a start they would have 3 peated I bet. Aaron Gordon sacrificed his body all because of this playoff choker. Atleast they got better role players to replace MPJ. Who is like Kyle Kuzma puts up empty stats after traded and they both play similiar positions. Atleast the Nuggets improved without him.

  1. Aaron Nesmith

Aaron Nesmith doesn't have one of the worst contracts in the world but he can be inconsistent at often times on a 3 year $33M deal. Even though he puts up around 13.5 PPG he only shoots 41.4% from the field. Can be injured most of the time. Shoots 37.4% from 3 which was a major improvement from early in the year shooting 31%. Even though this isn't one of the worst contracts, being inconstent during most games which is why he is in this list which includes players being paid bread but being inconsistent and averaging less PPG than expected.
