NBA Takes But They Get Progressively Hotter

10%: The Current NBA Is More Talented Than the 90s

This one is at 10% simply because I feel like everyone should agree with this. In all other sports, the fans agree the game has almost constantly improved. Outside of Jordan, the best players in the 90s are much worse than the best current NBA players. Additionally, there are much better role players, and rosters are way deeper.

20%: The Bulls Front Office Is EASILY The Worst In The League

Ever since DRose, the Bulls have been the face of mediocrity. They will occasionally get a “star”, only for that star to quickly burn out and leave. Sure, the management got unlucky with Rose. But, there are no excuses for refusing to both rebuild OR contend. Being mediocre is one of the worst places to be in sports, and being mediocre for years and years is THE worst place to be in sports.

30%: Tim Duncan is a Top 5 Player OAT

Obviously, he’s behind LeBron and Jordan, who are the clear one and two, there’s Kareem and then who? Kobe, Magic, Bird? Definitely not. Possibly Curry. Duncan has practically done everything you could ask for in his career. He’s won over and over again. He’s proved he doesn’t need a superteam to win. He’s showed he can sustain success for a solid amount of time. Dominance, talent, everything’s there.

40%: Defense has Only Gotten Better Over The Years

It’s so much harder to play defense in the modern NBA due to spacing and much improved offensive skill. There are not nearly as many players in the NBA that can’t hit a wide open three as there was 10, 20, and 30 years ago. You’re playing in so much more space, versus in the 21st century and 2000s where teams were much more condensed.

50%: LeBron James is the GOAT

I can, and have, wrote essays defending this take. I’ll keep this short though. His skill and incredible all around game. His dominance and length of his peak. His impact on and off the court. His impact and gravity on the court. He’s the face of longevity and sustained success. He’s played in three different eras, all very different, and all incredibly talented.

60%: Steph Curry is the GOAT Point Guard

This one I’m not nearly as dead set about. But here’s what it comes down to: Magic played in a weaker era Curry changed the game in a way nobody else has. Both players are incredibly talented, but Curry is more talented. He can score from all three levels and is a good defender. Unfortunately for Magic, his career was cut short, but ultimately, it was cut short. On the other side, Curry’s been great for so long.

70%: Carmelo Anthony is The Most Overrated Player OAT

As a Knicks fan, I love Carmelo. However, he was a turnover machine and was incredibly inefficient. Throughout his career, he nearly averaged more turnovers per game than assists (a few times he did average more turnovers than assists). Throughout his career, he often averaged 20+ FG attempts per game, and has a career TS% of 54.3.

80%: Jase Richardson was the Biggest Steal of the Draft

I’ve believed in Richardson nearly all season. Despite his size, he’s a good defender, great finisher, good playmaker, and his terrific off the ball. I truly believe he will turn out to be a top 7 player from this draft class, and will end up a perfect fit for the Magic.

90%: Bronny James Will Be a Multi-Time All-Star at the End of His Career

Now the takes are getting crazy. However, over the last season, we’ve seen Bronny evolve and recover. First of all, recovering from cardiac arrest is incredibly difficult, and playing basketball just a few months after is even more difficult. This injury is the reason for his college struggles. But I’m thinking people forget how good pre-cardiac Bronny was in high school. If he develops a solid three point jumper, I believe he will be a multi time all star and a serious contributor on a championship winning team.

100%: The Mavericks Have Won The Luka Doncic Trade

This one was even ridiculous when I was writing it out. But, honestly, they have won it. If we take the trade at face value, we understand why it was a bad trade. I mean, they traded the franchise player for Anthony Davis (no offense to AD). But, their concerns with Luka were real. He was fat, lazy, and a bad defender. AD, while injury prone, is a terrific rim protector. Obviously though, the Luka trade looked horrible for the Mavs. That was until the lottery. Now, that was completely unpredictable and random. But, ultimately, they traded Luka for AD, AD got hurt, and the team struggled. As a result of that struggle, they got the #1 overall pick and drafted Cooper Flagg, an incredible prospect.
