Is Brandon Miller a Bust? He's Showing Some Signs...

Hello and welcome back to kawntent sports. Today, I'm reconsidering a position I took during the predraft process regarding Brandon Miller. During the pre-draft process, I was always high on Brandon Miller. I was one of the first to talk about Miller being in the same ballpark skill level of Scoot Henderson, months before the draft, but I've seen a lot of concerning things about him since then. Let's dive into it.

I just watched a TikTok of Brandon Miller blindly drafting a starting 5. Sounds pretty tame, rookies do this type of thing all the time. The thing is, HE HAD NO IDEA WHO KHRIS MIDDLETON WAS! Middleton just got given a huge contract and is worth every penny, and was a major contributor on the championship Bucks a few years ago. Miller also had no idea who Jonas Valanciunas was. Is he not scouting his opponents? He should especially have some idea who the top players at his own position are. It's a bit concerning that he doesn't know his competition. Also, Miller considers PAUL GEORGE his GOAT. Really? This shows that Brandon Miller might just not understand the game of basketball. No offense to PG, but he's far from being the GOAT.

Miller had 5 fouls in a 26 point performance against the Blazers. He went for just 10 and 8 against the Lakers with 4 fouls, and dropped 16 and 11 against the Spurs with 5 fouls again. Is Brandon Miller too much of a liability defensively to be playing small forward? Averaging over 4.5 fouls in summer league, this should be a legitimate concern for Miller. Coupled with the fact that he doesn't know his opponents, he will be ill-prepared for the first few games of the season.

With Charlotte's history of failing near the top of the draft, the Brandon Miller pick is becoming extremely concerning in my opinion. This is only the stuff since he was drafted, there's of course the concerns about his activity in college. Can Brandon Miller overcome these shortcomings and become the next Paul George, like he hopes to? Let me know in the comments down below. I'm hoping for the best for Miller, I've been a fan of his for months now and I'd hate to see his career fail, but it's looking more possible by the day.

This is the clip I'm referring to where Miller can't identify Khris Middleton, Jonas Valanciunas, and Isaiah Hartenstein.
